Title: What wood can do THIS?

Osage reigns supreme!! This bow was shooting nicely when all of a sudden it split at the top nock. 65# @ 28" draw. It split about eight to ten inches down the limb so I just finished it off and split it full length down the middle. I took one of the splits and cut two inches off each end and scraped it back into a good tiller. Made a nice little bow. 45# @ 26" draw. 58 inces long. I consider myself to be fairly open minded. If there is another wood that can accomplish a task like this please fill me in and I would be glad to use it. Untill then ... LONG LIVE THE KING!!!!

Slightly wider than a dime and pulling 45 @ 26, yeah that is pretty amazing wood. Nice save and great tiller as usual Jon. I'm with you
on the love of osage, always been my favorite wood for bows.

Yah well if its was 68" long and 2" wide you could do that with any wood!

That bow is definitely not "overbuilt".  Great job saving a bow out of a disaster.  I bet it shoots good being that narrow at the arrow pass.

That's why I think Osage is Inferior wood. I never use that garbage. 2 inches wide of gold osage split? Give me Yew.

Now that, that bow has divided, both will grow to full size bows and split again making 4 bows.  Get your wood to do that!

Great save Jon! Osage is great stuff, my favorite wood by far. People who claim they dont like osage are usually those who dont have easy access to it.

All joking aside, I do see where alot of bows are overbuilt. You can't blame that on the wood though.

Not true okie. I have Osage growing all around me. I just cut it up for firewood. Jon your bow was ok at best:) And yes I am messing with you and okie. LOL. That is pretty cool getting a bow from one that split up the center. Not how my bad bow adventurers go:)
