Just started here. Just finished my first selfbow. Red oak mollegabet design. It came pretty good. A little bit of twist in the working limbs but not.enough to throw the string off center. My bow came really light on the draw weight 30# and under by estimation. I.decided to back the working limbs with fiber glass tape.and.went along to do.the belly as well. I.figured this would strengthen the bow some what and prevent.any shattering if it breaks.
My real.question here is. A silly one i know but. If.i were to.finish the bow.with a polycrylic and really layered it on like 50 thin layers or more could thay make the bow.stronger? By draw weight that is.

No but it could make it slower ;)

Just an excuse to build another one :) Too many layers of that finish will crack with time.

A lot of first bows come in light. Mine was around 30#'s also. I was aiming for 50#. Like David said, learn from it and you will improve on the next one.

Once i put this one through the paces and make sure its not gunna snap, i think ill gift it to.a.young nephew of mine. And i totally am addicted to this now. Im already drawing out plans for my next build. :)
