Title: Ever find heat treated flint?

I was gathering flint yesterday in a stream and found a cobble that was more glassy than anything else I've found around here (eastern Missouri)and rosy colored.  The flint here is Burlington Chert and can turn pinkish when heat treated.  I wonder if I have stumbled on a stone that was heat treated by Native Americans long ago.  Have any of you experienced this?  It knapped beautifully.

                  I have and have had some burlington that looked the same way. Came ta same conclusion as you. Did chip really well as compared ta the raw stuff. The raw stuff is harder ta work but can be done with a bit more patience and lots more work. Nice stuff that burlington.....................bob

 Around the area I live we find heat treated coral quite a bit.I've made some nice arrow heads from some of the flakes.Most of the high quality Newnan,s,Hillsborough,and Marion points were heat treated by the Abo's.That is why most of them are real thin.
