Been working on this for a few weeks,I usually don't get in much of a hurry but wanted to finishe it up before Hunting season clased, turned out a sweet shooter and I feel sure will get some time in the woods.Nothing special, just a clean /straight piece of Osage, guess that is special cause you don't find a lot of that. 51@26 /53@27/55@28. I draw 26 but like to take them out just so if someone else winds up pulling it I feel safe with that. It is 1 3/8 from fad to about mid limb ,other than a little side tillering I did finishing it up, then tappered to about 1/4 at the tips.62 inches n-n, deer horn tip overlays and a first for me a Jute handle wrap soaked in super glue then sanded.Finished with 6 coats of rub on tru oil.Stands straight and shoots where I look.I think I am going to like this one,Hope yall do. :) :)

That's it, Couldn't think of a good name and with all the up roar about Osage the last week or so , I just couldn't help myself. ;) ;D ;D ;D

Nice bends and unbraced stick pappy....and what a fitting and appropriate name ;D
-
Certainly does look like one to hunt with. Nice job on that osage bow Pappy, nothing simple about turning out a bow that nice.Thats some good shooting going on in those last couple pics, anything that shoots and bend that well deserves to be called king.

Another great bow there Pappy. Did I ever tell you that when I grow up, I want to be just like you? Love seeing that osage bend. I am looking through some osage now to try and get a good piece split out and make my self another one this winter. Man that does look nice.
-
That is one of my favorite bows I've seen you build. Really nice job brotha! LoNG LivE the KING!!!
-
Nice work Pappy. That unbraced profile says it all. Well, that and those arrows all bunched up together. Long Live The King!
-
Hey Pappy, that's gorgeous, love the narrowarrow pass and the bellied grip. Really looks like it means business.
Looks like it spits 'em where you're lookin' too.
Del
(That rubber pig is lookin' a bit resigned to it all...)
-
She sure is a pretty one, Pap! You outdid yourself on that one!!
-
Great looking bow! I like that name! It would win bow of the month for sure.
-
Really like that Pappy.Masterful job.The simpler the better. That poor little pig......LOL.
-
Outstanding pappy, I hope the king of woods I got from hedgeapple Dave turns out half as nice as yours. Keep shooting'em straight ;D
-
Great looking bow pappy. This may be the straightest piece of osage I've seen you post up here.
-
That's a great looking bow Pappy. Did you have any problem trying to tiller those straight limbs without any holes in them? ;D
-
Plain, simple beauty and function! 8) What more could you ask for.
-
Osage is King?... I couldn't agree more!
-
Thanks Guys,it does shoot nice at my range,so no excuses for missing deer now. ;) ;D ;D Clint it does seem simpler with a clean piece, the last couple I have made were clean wood and it's nice for a change, just a good solid bow. :) I got some snaky /holey wood to work on when I get in the mood but for now the clean stuff is pretty nice to deal with. :) I forgot to mention the wood was cut in 04,shaped in 06 straightened and re flexed in 2010 and finished in 2012 so it was well seasoned. ;) :) I know some say it don't matter ,but I like seasoned wood, wether it be Osage or white wood. :)

Most excellent bow! Nice work Pappy. Love a clean straight piece of sage.
If you run out of excuses for missing deer get with me, I've a couple real good ones saved up.
-
Yew guys just don't understand, Keenan. ;)
-
Sweet bow Pappy! I don't expect you miss too many deer anyway.
I guess coming from the east coast (and by east coast I mean everything east of the Sierra Nevada) I can understand why you'd think Osage was King. >:D >:D >:D

The name on the bow says it all Pappy.

"Osage is king" hmm...... Should be "Osage is king...of the Midwest" >:D

-
Very nice bow, but I want the vise. So far I agree with the king part too. How do you feel about the grip now that you have made one?
-
Rough, nice and clean. Lovely osage orange. Like it. :-)

Very nice bow Pappy! I like the jute wrap handle, did my last one like that and I really like it.
-
Long Live the King! I love that bow.
-
Hard to argue with that bow's title when you look at the tiller!
-
Very nice profile.
-
Thanks guys means a lot ,just having some fun with the name, ;) I do love Osage but lots of other very good wood out there. ;) Bryce I don't live in the mid west. ;) ;D ;D rps3 I like the handle, maybe a little larger for me,didn't realize how much the wrap would add,may cut the grip a little smaller on the next one. :-\ I do seem to be getting use to it and you never know, may start making bigger handles/grips. :) Thanks for the comments. :)

Pappy
-
Well one finely stumbled by. I like starting a bow out like this. ;)
Pappy
-
Nice bow Pappy! Good shooting. It would take a pile of squirrels to equal up to that. Do you like that jute wrap handle? I think it looks sharp.
-
What a year you have had! Congrats on a great bow. I am going out this morning with my milkweed bow string to atempt to take another as well.
-
Yes Howard I do,wasn't sure at first,a little larger than I usually do but now that I have gotton use to it I like it. One thing about it,it blood stain easy. ;) :) :) Good luck John, maybe one will stumble by you as well. ;) :)
Pappy

That's just awesome pappy! Just think! Now you got another hide to flesh! >:D seriously though that is one heck of a way to start out a bow :) Congrats my friend :)

Nice goin' Pappy.

Congrats on the meat with her pappy ;)
-
Good job, Pap....and good aim. :)
-
Hooray! Good shootin' Pappy.

-
Fantastic job Pappy!
-Dan
-
Way to go Pappy. Looks like you Twin Oaks boys will be eating good this winter.
-
Hickory doesn't suck. It's just that the osagians and yewers have had little experience designing a proper bow from it. Try using osage in the desert and watch what happens to it. Jawge
-
good job Pappy.looks like that bow is working for you.
-
;D
Nice job!
-
congrats, Pappy on another fine deer. Sorry to here you got blood stains on your new bow though. Since that bow is ruined now, you can just send it to me. :)
-
Nice one! Love a hunter who shoots meat trophies instead of holding out for decorations.
-
:) :) :) :) :)
Nice bro.
-
You da man. Nice catch, MMmmmmm....long time since I tasted fresh venison.
-
Wow Pappy! I'm gonna have to drive to Clarksville to get some pointers on both, bow building and deer hunting. Do you give lessons? ;D. I'm wishing the Classic would hurry up and get here! Cant wait.
-
My buddy Pappy is a Killing Machine!
-
I agree Jawges, just having some fun. :) HighlandRanger it is a 4 arrow quiver ,I think from Eagle's flight Archery,it just straps on the bow. Shaun you are right,I am a meat hunter. I am a trophie hunter till something else comes along. :)
Bird in the hand I always say. ;) :) Thanks Guys. :)
