Title: War of the Arrows
Post by: Marc St Louis on December 04, 2012, 08:43:46 pm
This is a Korean movie that I saw a preview of, haven't watched it yet.  Has anyone seen it?  From the trailer it looks quite interesting, a lot of hornbow action that seems to be fairly authentic looking.

Watched it last night with my wife.  We both loved it.  They stretched reality a bit but a great movie none the less

Finally broke down and bought it about a month ago.  Overall a real good movie.  A bit "over the top" at times but enjoyable none the less.

I definitely want to try that technique of twisting the string above and below the arrow so that I can make my arrow curve around obstacles.   >:D

Yah I'd never heard of that twisting-the-string thing before watching this movie. Seems pretty unrealistic--I'd think you'd get terrible finger pinch from it--but does it actually change the flight of the arrow?

Du-uh, it's in a movie, it has to be true!  Just like they can't put anything on the internet that isn't true.

I thought it was a great flim, what was the point of the short arrow with the bamboo guide? Faster arrow flight?

Faster arrow flight was the secondary consideration.  First consideration was to look cool doing it.

That thing is called a Korean overdraw. It is a wicked simple innovation imo. About the movie, I was sorely disappointed with the rubbish excuses for Manchurian bows. They looked like toys, which I thought was a pretty sad representation of a bow that was used to conquer all of china.  ::) Although I guess it is to be expected in a movie made in Korea. Curiously, the Korean bows were very nice in contrast, lol.
