Red oak backed Red oak. 56" . 40#@28" mink fur silencers .Red Osier Dogwood shafts with turkey and goose fletch. Bone point on one. Shoots acurately but seems a little sluggish, even before the silencers where added. That may be because I'm used to shooting 60#. Fun little bow nonetheless.I'll make a heavier one from hickory before I write this design off . It sure looks nice with the "antiqued finish " on the scallops and is fun to shoot off the hand. I'll try to get a full draw pic up tomorrow.(http://) Was thinking of making this one for the Oak Board Bow Trade but am going with performance over artistic. Hope the recipient likes the one he's getting. Almost done that one . Pics to come soon.

Those are beauties. You can't go wrong with Native American styles.

Love those arrows. Cool looking design to.

Love it. Vintage finish. Fantastic. Odawa is a tribe? Never heard about it. :-)

Odawa . The tribe that gives the name to our nations capital I believe . "Ottawa"

Nice set indeed. How durable have you found the bone head to be? I've had bad luck making and keeping them from breaking.
-
(http://)Haven't had opportunity to use the bone head yet. (Ha ha) not much hunting this year. Typically you wouldn't use your bone or stone points to practice with. Different bone is going to be different consistency as well. The hardest bone will come from the legs of animals that jump a lot (Deer, Antelope) If it's really dry with no oils left in it , it will be brittle . If the head is mounted in a way that the force of impact is not linear ,or the arrow is not flying true and hits the target on an angle , it will also be more likely to break. You could try points of antler or horn in a fieldpoint design at the same weight as your bone broadheads and switch them out on the same arrow when you need to go hunting with them. What kind of bone are you using? What is your target ? how far are you from your target?

Thanks Pappy, that was probably the easiest and quickest part of the whole set . It only took me about 5 mins. I never made one before and wanted to see how sharp they would be. Quick answer......VERY ! Thanks for looking everyone. And thanks for the inspiration Halfeye! It was a fun bow to make and shoot and wont be my last.

I was using a pig bone from the pet aisle i got from Walmart.
I practice at 15 yards on a cardboard box stuffed with old papers in it :D

Try using the ones from last night's supper. They should outlast the arrows .

Nice :)
