Finely some of my character osage has come to season. This one is 56 ntn and 58lbs at 26". Paper thin rings and knots that run front to back I had to put it down a few times while tillering it. Teak oil finish and a simple jute with superglue handle. This was going to be part of my Christmas exchange but I do not trust it and have others in the works. Thanks for looking.

Jeez :o
Excellent job getting a bow from that peice of wood.

Nice one Paul. It looks like it was a toughy but you pulled it off nicely. Danny

That was some great work, looks great!
-
Sweet bow. Those knots look great!
-
Nice bend, Paul. I bet you get some double looks at the next 3-D with that one!! :o

Yeah, those knots look awesome. Makes great looking bow. It looks like the upper tip is flipped more than the bottom. Did the bottom pull-out or was it never induced as much? Just curious. I have a short osage bow with recurved tips getting ready for the tillering rack.
-
The bottom limb has a knot right where flip should be. I flip the top first (dumb move) and as I was doing the bottom I felt like the knot was about to pop, so I stopped. Instead of going back to the top and taking some flip out I said o-well and left it. I never went back to correct cause I guess I'm lazy and did not have to much hope it would be a shooter. It ended up shooting VERY well and tiller looks ok. With staves like this I need to force myself to stop, otherwise I would mess with it until it's firewood!

Nice job getting a cool bow out of a rough piece of wood.

Lord love a duck! If I am the name you drew, lemme worry about taking the risk!
-
I like it. Awesome bow. Osage is "gull" Thats norwegian. :-)

Great looking bow. Realy like the looks with all the knots. Whats up with the pipes sticking out of the tree?
-
from last year, tapping maple. One of the guys on here showed off his syrup and I had to do it myself
-
I don't think you should leave taps in the trees. I always wanted the tree to heal up when the sap season was over. I miss making syrup since moving to Texas.
Lovely bow!

Love it! Great character, flat unbraced profile and exceptional tiller, what's not to love. Very nice Paul. :)

This tree is coming down in the spring. It is a silver maple that is ready to blow over on my house. Never cared about it much. Silver has a lower sugar % than others but still works.

Love those knotty staves and the fine lookin' bows that can be conjured out of 'em. Nice work.

How you make a bow from a knoty peice of wood like that is beyond me... I'm scared of knots. :o Good JOB! AWESOME!
