Title: two crocodiles, or symmetry vs. asymmetry (No. 9 + 10)
Post by: simson on November 04, 2012, 03:48:29 pm
no crocodiles here - but handle leather is crodile!

Here comes the part 1: symmetry         > part 2 will come in the next days <
This bow is made out of billets (sisters) and has its geometric middle in the handle's middle. I began this bow some time ago and finished her this weekend. Overlays are waterbuffalo, cross section is like an elb.

Title: part 2: the asymmetric
Post by: simson on November 06, 2012, 02:21:16 pm
hello again guys, here is part 2, the asymmetric croc handled bow.
It is also osage, made from a single piece, set back handle, flat belly, sinew backed, snake skin (don't know the exact species, some watersnake ...)
very thin tips, sinew wrapped to hold down the backing.
The arrowposition is the exact geometric middle of the bow, so upper limb is 4" longer than bottom limb.
Sweet and fast shooter.
