Im a cabinet maker by trade and when I'm cutting lumber for cabinet rails or door panels I can't help but set aside the pieces with pretty grain. Just found this little beauty yesterday when planing down some walnut. I've been wanting to get into knife making at some point and think this kind of stuff would make pretty scales on the sides of folders. Although part of me thinks there are some pretty pistol grips in this piece. Hope to find a good project for it someday

That is a COOL piece of walnut!
I'm a call maker, so I'd turn it into deer and turkey calls.

Wow! That is a great piece of wood! I'd say pistol grips, calls or knife scales would all really show off that grain well.
