Title: large gravel point
Post by: Tower on October 09, 2012, 05:46:25 pm
I picked up a large gravel cobble at the companies dirt pit yesterday.  They are everywhere out there. This piece had 3 percussion flakes taken from one side. I picked up my spalling billet to try the stone out. It knapped like glass. I made a rough preform yesterday, & finished it today. This stone was outstanding. I cant imagine why the stone was never finished eons ago. I'm happy with the was this point turned out with raw stone. I hope y'all enjoy.  Tower

Thanks for the compliments. Most of the gravel needs heat, but every now & then I find one that dosen't.  I hadn't made anything very large in a while,so I was a little nervous making this one.
