Title: anybody know what this big bug is?

I Was working in the shop last night, And I heard a noise And look over to see This monster bug Flying directly at me! :o I have never seen 1 like this And wonder if anybody knows what it might be... It was a tough 1 to kill , it seems like it had 9 lives... Thanks for any input

Its a giant water beetle, but it can survive outside of water with no problem.  If thats the one I am thinking of, they can be rather mean.

I saw one of those in the movie "Men In Black"....it came from another planet I think.

Yep.  Giant water bug.  They catch and eat small fish  :o

I would call it a DEAD bug.  ::)
Never saw anything like it before.
If you find more of them you could make up some flu-flu arras and practice ur wing shootin. :laugh:

LOL...might be sump'n new for Billy Berger to hunt after he's killed all the dragon flies.

 I had to kill this 1 is a knife fight.... He almost won >:(

Call me weird, but I've always kinda liked them, but I haven't had a bad experience with one yet though.  I had an entomology class in college and now I'm always looking for interesting insects.  One neat thing about the giant water bug is the male attaches the eggs to his back to protect them.

That's wicked looking I saw a scorpion the other day with baby's on it's back. Makes me think of starship trooper

Those water bugs can get big.  I was always trying to find them in cattle ponds when I was a kid.  Then as a biologist (big kid) they would get caught in our bat nets...lots of fun untangling those buggers from a fine net.

I think I'd rather handle bats!
