I haven't been posting much lately. Just had a bunch of stuff going and couldn't find time to make much, other than huntin points.
This last weekend I did get a few knocked out. Enjoy!

Those all look great to me man! You do good work :)
-
Some more nice ones. Thanks for the ones you sent me.

Those are some exceptional points. That's some fine knapping.

Man, those look great!

Man, that first bunch look like you punched em out with some kind of industrial cookie cutter?? I'd love to be able to do that. Also love the lighting on that one knife blade, stunning picture.

Real nice Scott! You have improved greatly in the short time I have known you, at this rate you will be a well known knapper! Those hands of your sure look like they are getting a work out.

Thanks guys! I have to admit I took a page out of Billy's book with the lighting trick. It was such a pretty rock (no idea what it is?!?) I really wanted to showcase it.
The huntin points are headed to TD for the horn trade (sorry George :-\ ::) ???)
Thanks for the compliments, I still like learnin from you all!

No sweat Scott. Dave would've been waiting until 2013 for that many from me. I need to do a couple more for my own arrows.

As a rule, "no." I have worked 1 maybe 2 slabs and decided I don't like them. The multi colored blade is a reworked point that I couldn't stand to throw away after it broke.

Ya know, gut, I never looked at em like that. I bet they do look like slab work to some people (at least untill you see the side profile.) They really ain't nothin special. I have been workin on improving that point alot cause I've been makin so many of em. I figured out an easy and efficient way of shearing the point into shape then its just a matter of several thinning passes.
Interestingly, after I had developed this technique, I went back and reread Towers post at the top about thinning and I had copied his style almost completely!
Sooo, like G-pa says "give flowers while they can still smell 'em!" Thanks Tower, for putting out such great and understandable info. Have to give you credit cause I know how hard I was trying to mimic your style. That's the beauty of this site and these folks.
