Title: another odd question
Post by: Tower on August 29, 2012, 11:28:18 pm
What's the strangest, or oddest thing you have come across in the stone you were knapping. I don't have a pic yet, but today I came across a fibrous material in a pocket in the stone. Its like a charcoal colored fiberglass. I will try to post a good pic tomorrow.

The only thing. Have came across is crystal
Formations in the rock I get around here.
Some of it has had some iron pirite (if I spelled it right)
Should be able to after working in a crusher

I've found water spalling. It makes you wonder what the moisture content of a stone it.

Once in a long while I will find a point in a chunk of rock ;)

Seriously though, I have found quartz crystal pockets and never seem to keep them in the point though.

I've seen this quite a bit, but I believe this is the best one I've exposed yet. Usually hunt these after a big rain. Never thought to look inside rocks when I was a kid.  ::) (crawlers)
