Title: plain,quartered 0r rift?

Hey all,wich type of board is best suited for a self bow,or are they all egual depending on the grain?thx's!

they will all work, allthough i prefer quartersawn when i can get it, Bub

They're all good. With quarter sawn  you need to have perfectly straight edge grain. My site may help. Jawge

Quarter sawn without a doubt!! Just my 2 cents.

The grain must be STRAIGHT, but the ring orientation doesn't really matter. All types of boards will make a self bow.
