I have used all the Hickories and I believe Pignut to be one of the better species.

Pignut is my favorite Hickory.

Ive used several different types of hickory and they all make good bows. I have a hard time telling the hickories apart from each other. A good hickory stave is nearly impossible to break, it does need to be very dry to avoid taking set though.

Yep,very good wood,just keep it dry while you are working it. :)
