Title: Re: summer time bow #2
Post by: iowabow on July 16, 2012, 06:47:28 pm
In addition to knappin, shootin, doing bow building events and pottery I made a couple of bows. This bow was made before the other. The idea was to build a 60# bow that was a little shorter so I could move around in the stand easier in the early part of the season. I was not watching the scale closely and over putted the bow while  looking at a part of the bow. I have a little set but it is 60#@24". I have fired this bow about 400 times also. I dont dress my bows up because I never really think there good enough.

I've seen that bow in person.  It needs no "dressing up"!  The best of things are always better sans foo-for-all.  Well done John!  Josh

A good bow doesn't need to be all fancied up to get my attention.... or to put meat in the freezer.  That tiller looks spot on to me. :)

I'd say that one is good enough not to need any bells and whistles!!

Looks plenty good enough to me....with or without fancy clothes. Love that color Osage gets. Too purty to cover up.

Nobody is going to walk up to that and say, "Nice...uh, saladfork?"  That, sir, is nothing but a bow.  Great tiller, nothing to complain about there, either!!!

I always like'em best before any handle leather is applied, before paint or stain is laid on, or even finish.  When it's just a bow...and nuttin' mo'.  Mmmm, nice nekkid bow.

Nonsense John.I've seen this bow myself and have told you I liked it.It's just that I should'nt shoot it with a 24.5" draw that's all.LOL.If it works for you that's all that counts. Those young fellas we helped make bows over the last month or two can start to learn how to make some arrows now & so on & so on & so on.

Man, that's a nice rock in the picture, John!  I can't believe I carried that crappy thing up there! :-[  I'm glad that you found a good use for it.  Once again, very nice bow!  Josh
