Title: Sources of info on Mary Rose bows
Post by: SimonUK on September 12, 2007, 07:56:10 pm
Can anyone tell me some good sources of information on the Mary Rose bows? For example the dimensions, the way the ends were tapered (Kviljo just filled me in on that one) - where do you get all this information?

There must be a publication on it all...

Thanks, Simon

Secrets of the English Warbow by H. Soar is a good one, with good measures of two bows, which should be representative , and there is some very nice pictures in Bickerstaffes book.

Plus there is an electronic archive at the official MR website that has some data on the bows.

If I remember correctly, there was going to be published a paper on the bows not so long ago, but I never saw it mentioned on the warbowforum, so I guess it is still in process.

Thanks ...yes that's the book everyone seems to be quoting. I'll try and get it.
