Title: Rock run with history
Post by: Big A on July 10, 2012, 10:07:37 pm
Well I was waiting for Will to post this but I can't wait any more. You never know what can happen when you come to Twin Oaks. One of the guys that came to the Classic invited GergB and Will to go to a Prehistoric rock quarry in Dover TN. They ask if I would like to go. I had to not pass that up. We had a great time and saw some cool stuff. You could feel the history. We were able to get about 600-700 lbs of the good stuff.

That's awesome Big A! Is that Greg B in the background there ;D man it looks like as much fun soaking up the signs of natives hundreds of years ago gathering stone. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for posting this A! My computer is broken right now so all I can do is post comments with my phone. No pics :( I tell you what guys this was an awesome rock run! The guy that took us to the property had some trouble finding the actual quarry at first. So while he searched for the quarry we started lookin for high grade material in the creek. We found quite a bit but nothin like the quarry! The native folks had dug cone shaped holes all over this one hillside extracting flint. It seemed the higher on the hillside the better the flint. Like big a said we got around 700lbs and didn't even make a dent in what was there! Man what a good time.

Stringman- if we could pan out on that pic you would see that that's pappys cabin down at twin oaks. We decided to leave the rock there and share it with special folks that come down to the club :)
