Here's a black locust bow that I finished up for my son Ayden. I started him shooting last year. He's only three but is grasping the concept quite well. I still gotta help, but i think he'll be on his own soon. I made this bow with some growing room. Its 45" and pulls 15#@ !7". The tips are osage and brazilian rosewood. I used a single black snake skin and did some decorative wraps with artificial sinew. The grip is tanned buckskin. Its finished with several coats of tru-oil. I was happy with the finish but wish I would have tweaked the tiller a bit on the bottom limb. I'm going to give him the bow on Sunday and I'll try and post some pics of him then. Working on a matching set of arrows...I was really surprised how quick this little bow is....Definately not a toy!!!

That's fantastic, amazing work. Your son will cherish it for life, I'm sure. I can only hope that my 'kid' bows will turn out as well when I'm done with them.

That is really cool! Lucky kid

Fathers pride indeed! Nice bow ;)

Nice work! Those little ones can be tricky to tiller . The bows too!

Great job, Dad. If that don't get him fired up, nothing will!!

Nice indeed! He'll be tickled I am sure.

I gave Ayden his new bow yesterday....He immeditatly wanted to shoot it. He was really excited. In fact he was so excited he forgot everything I taught him....lol. He had the bow upside down ....putting the arrow on the wrong way...had his fingers walking all over the string...lol. I had to jump in and offer a little guidiance. Hats off to my wife, Machelle for the great photography. She really had to be quick because arrows were flying like a machine gun. Hope you guys enjoy the pictures...I know it was a moment that we'll never forget!!!!
