My sons arrows were too stiff, too fast and too dangerous (the kid is 4 years old, so no guarantee the little hunter/warrior within is kept under control). Softer arrows would have been too fragile. So I added heads from chicken bones (dinner last week). I had seen similar birdpoints in an old magazine on new guinea tribal culture.
These work very well so far.

Very innovative! Love the little bow too.

Yeah, it would probably still hurt. It remains a weapon, after all. We all would not be as fascinated by bows if they were simple toys. ;) But he cant injure his sister. Or one of the expensive horses behind the house (not mine) too badly. I hope.
Not much innovation from my side. below is the pic I mentioned, I built them after the third arrow from the right.

Great idea.

Now that's pretty cool..Could you maybe give a short tutorial on how ya did it...Wonder how well they would hold up????

They are glued onto the shaft with a simple V-splice, the bone being the negative, the shaft the positive. The bones had taken some damage on the cartilage parts from the cooking, fissures and cracks. I soaked them in dyed skin glue to help it. The dye is ordinary watercolour, matching the color he had wished the bow to be painted in. Fresh bones would certainly fare better.
He has used them quite some, mostly hitting the grass, but also rocks and trees and cartboard boxes and whatever. None has broken so far, but I would not expect them to hold up as good on full weight arrows shot from strong bows. No way. Unless you only hit soft birdies, of course. >:D One shows some abbrasion from hitting the concrete floor repeatedly, you can see it in the pic. They're bound to break some day, for sure. :'(

Very cool. I've been meaning to make some blunts for my kids using sweet gum balls glued to the tips if the shafts. Saw a bunch at a roving shoot earlier this year and thought it was a great idea. Thanks for sharing.
