I confess I haven't researched this story completely, but have now seen the story on 2 different Texas on-line sporting publications so there's at least a chance it's true. I wish I'd known this guy so I could have had the skins or at least the scales. The fish is significantly larger than the archer. I think it's very cool he used a recurve. Too bad he cleaned it before he realized it was likely a new state record.

I've shot some longnose 50plus inches. I can't imagine one that big,bet the dude was wore out.

I wonder what the heck he was thinking right before he turned loose that first arrow?.... Something like "Do I really want to piss this thing off?", or "Am I really sure I want to be tied to this thing?" That joker could have towed my little 13ft one man canoe all the way to Miami...... :o
