Title: my new bow is finished pics. (now w/ full draw)
Post by: Jesse on September 07, 2007, 10:14:22 pm: Thanks for looking. I am proud of this bow because it started off with problems but thanks to this forum it was saved and works great. Thanks Rich. It is a tri lam ipe ipe with bamboo back and hickory strip in the handle. It started out at 66 n.t.n. but had trouble and by the time I got it fixed it was under weight so I cut it to 62 n.t.n. It is now 50# @ 27". The hand shock is gone and it performs great. I made it to give to the guy at the local archery shop. Hope he likes it. I will post full draw tomorrow. I want to let the finish dry a little more. Let me know what you guys think

Arne Maybe once I get a little better I will send one to you and you can send me that Knife :D The guy who is getting this only has compound bows so he will not see what needs fixing like you would. I have not made enough to know if it needs fixing lol Im sure I will hear it when I post the full draw pic.

Well here it is braced and full draw. The broadhead is band saw blade from venisonburger. I dont think I mentioned it is reflex deflex and the bottom limb is shorter than the top. Well let me have it guys. Good or bad I dont care it works good but I am looking to improve.

Ho waste Thank you also Do you rely not know what a compound bow is ? That would make you even cooler in my book. Its the modern bows with cables and wheels. I think most guys started with them before switching to the real bows. I shot compound my first year and that was enough for me.

The owner of the archery shop should be displaying that bow where everyone can see it..Make sure it doesn't end up on the back of a rack out of site..

I known of compound shops to pull that kind of stunt. :o

Congratulations, you stuck with that bow and did it right!

VB thanks I am making a set of 6 broadheads like this. I made this one a little more rounded than my first and I like it.
Rich Thanks again you helped a lot. Im not worried what he will do with this bow he is a good guy. He is a traditional shooter he just doesn't know it yet. ;)
I figured out a little trick before I shortened it Im sure its been done I just didnt know about it. I put my quick clamps over the tips to simulate a shorter bow so I could see what it did at different lengths before I cut it.

Thanks Wrightbrigade that is a high compliment but there are a lot better bows on this site to imitate than mine.

Post by: Jesse on September 27, 2007, 12:21:40 am: Welll I gave the bow away. He was very happy with it. I took it in the back to the range while he was helping a customer. I was impressed at its speed and had second thoughts about giving it away lol. One other guy was in the range and was very interested so I let him try it out. He was a big guy and he cranked that thing back to his ear and held it trying to get his aim right. I cringed watching it.waiting for a snap. :o I should have told him the basics of shooting a wood bow first. normally I do that. Well no damage so that was good. Nice to know it would hold up to a 30" draw. Well that was a lesson learned. Dont just hand your bow to a guy before a little lesson ;)
