I made this bow for a 12 year old girl at the club, her Mum asked if I would.
Well, I'd have graciously declined as I don't much like making kids bows, but I happend to have a skinny offcut from a previous bow.
I went to town on making it look pretty.
66" tip to tip, about 65 1/4 ntn.
Draw weight/length was problematic as I din't really know what was required. I guessed at 30# at 26" as a reasonable target, her Mum suggested 25# at 24" which turns out to be pretty much the same thing ;D.
I've taken it briefly back to 28" to prove it has some growing into room. Mother of Pearl arrow plate, and Rolls Royce's finest red upholstery leather for the grip (I cut it from the back seat of Her Majesty the Queen's Rolls Royce and blamed it on her Corgis ::))
The small, slim nocks are Waterbuffalo horn which has a nice streak of gayish white at the centre gicing it a distinguished look.
She'll get to try it next Sunday at our end of month shoot.
It's pretty quick, hopefully faster that the tired old club bows she's been using.
The stave had some natural deflex which I left as a way of keeping the draw weight down and allowing a decent draw length to grow into on a shortish (for an ELB) bow.
Hope you approve.

Sweet looking bow Del. That will make the other club kids jealous. get ready for a mess of orders from their parents.

Beautiful!!!!!! I love the mother of pearl. I saw a whole bag of it at the dollar store about a month ago and should have bought it then. Now I can't find it . I'll have to search harder ,now that I see just how much it dresses things up. I'm sure the young lady will be ecstatic.

Dunno if you've used it before. It will cut and file ok with sharp tools and a light touch. Polishes up with wet & dry paper and a buffing wheel. Just don't clamp it too hard in a vice (I use a scrap of old rubber inner tube around it to grip it gently). It's harder to find nice thick bits. That bit came from a pendant in an antique shop, it was only about £3 and its made a few arrow plates. The postage would have cost more than that if I'd bought it online!

Doesn't get any better than that. :)

Beautiful ELB, top notch workmanship and picture perfect tiller to boot. That bow has the look of a classic weapon, very nice job all around Del.

Thanks , Del.I have used Mother of pearl and Abalone as well as ivory, mostly on furniture for inlays. It all works very well with a jeweler's saw and Dremel tool as well. Now I just have to find the time to do it. Once again , a truly inspirational bow!

That's a really good job, Del. I hope they realize the value of a piece of art like that.
