Time for me to introduce myself, been lurking here a few years and really enjoy seeing all the great bows. My lack of computer skills have only allowed me to log in and view to this point, wife helping me today so hopefully this post will work. I've been making selfbows and hunting with them for about 14 yrs. now, yes Im an addict. I want to post a bow today to share with you guys that have shown me all your wonderful works since I discovered this site. This is a great website with a lot of friendly and helpful members. If my photos work I have other bows that I would like to post in the near future. Now the bow; Black Locust, belly split from 12 yr. seasoned stave, side profile is natural dips, dives, etc. no heat corrections. Bow took about 3/4" set in tillering, pretty dense bl I believe. Tiller not perfect (mine never are thats why I choose the user name 'Badly Bent') . 54# @ 25" with double scallops on sides. Some thump in the hand when shooting but cast is good with a heavy hunting arrow and there are no chrysals on the belly even after one year of hard use. This one spent many days with me in the deer woods last season. Hope you enjoy seeing it. Greg

Beautiful bow. Really like how you brought out the characteristics of the wood. Thanks for the pics, and welcome to this forum. These guys and gals are great, and free with great advice.
-
very nice bow!!! Welcome to the family.
-
nice bow , i don't see anything wrong w/the tiller looks pretty good to me.
-
Welcome fellow addict! And I don't see nothing wrong with the bend on that bad boy either! Nice work. The proof is in the using and if you've been using that for a year it's proved itself. Did it make meat for you?
-
welcome and nice bow. Very much my style of bow
-
nice bow-glad to have ya here
show us more!!

I have never made one from BL. I understand that it is hard to make one that doesn't chrysal unless the tiller is near perfect. From the photos, it appears as though you nailed it! I, like you, prefer to leave the bends, dips, twists and other "challenges" in the bows I make. Great looking bow!

Really nice bend on that one, Greg. Welcome!!
-
I REALLY like those scalloped sides. I've been wanting to try my hand at it, but Im too terrified of the failure that would most assuredly ensue. Beautiful work.

Sweeeeeeet....welcome to PA......i love black locust..ive made several bows from it and never had frets or issues, and it has excellent cast in it
-
Welcome to PA! Awesome work on that bow! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work! Very well done :) :) :)
-
Welcome and it looks like ya nailed it to me. That's a beautiful bow I really like the scallops. It's amazing how many talented bowyers are on here and more keep joining! Welcome aboard looking forward to seeing more.

Hey Badly.....first off welcome, second ya need to change yer handle, that baby is a "workin circle" if I ever seen one. Ya didn't say but looks to be in the 50 inch range somewheres.....outstanding little bow. Made a "few" of them and kill my deer with 'em, ya done real good there.

Welcome sir! The only way I would see that bow as 'bad' is if I were down range from you wearing fur and antlers! Very nice work! Josh

DMC, Missle & SA - Thank you for the compliments and the welcome.
Randman - No meat last season, not the bows fault though.
Jon W - I really love this style also, as well as others.
Sadie - Thanks, have more that I would like to post. Like I said I owe you folks some pictures since I've seen so many of everyones bows on here.
Slim & Lesken - Thanks for the compliments. SB, some bows I like to leave natural shape, some I'll heat correct.
LE - Try the scallops man, you can do it. Made 3 so far without failure and if one does fail, well I'll just reach in the woodpile and try again.
Blackhawk - Thanks, seen your locust bows on here, real real nice and they look like they can get the job done. this is one of five bl bows i've made, one fretted evenly through out the working section of both limbs but still no further degregation in a year. Matter of fact it is the top of the stave that the belly split for this bow came from.
Will & Judo - Thanks for the kind words I appreciate it.
Halfeye - I've viewed you beautiful bows so many times on here that I feel I know you. Yes it is 57" ntn which seems to be about right for my 25" draw in a hunting bow. Thanks for the compliments means a lot coming from you with your scallop bow building skill.
To all, sorry for the slow response, still working on my 'puter skills.

What you lack in computer skills you sure as heck make up for in bow making and arrow making. I hope you get them refined because alot folks are gonna like looking at your stuff....great job on that bow. Love the tiller

Gun Doc - Thanks for your compliment, saw your recent 5 curve osage man now that sucker is nice. As far as being down range of me with antlers if the antlers are big your likely ok, now if your a forkhorn odds go up in my favor. :)

Seems like you will fit in just fine here.

Nice bow, nice finish and grea bend. All good there, get some more posted up!
Welcome too :)

That is an Awesome bow...the quiver and arrows look top notch also.
I have attempted three of those bows. Two out of elm that broke and one of hickory that I thinned to much and got a 25# pull weight. Will try again when time allows.
-
Welcome! That is a fine looking bow. A short D bow is hard to beat for a tool to hunt with. I gotta try that scalloped edge effect. Looks great and thanks for posting. I am not too swift with the computer skills either. Don't feel bad - I think most of the folks on here are more adept at stone age stuff than the new technology! Show us some more bro!
-
great looking bow, nice full draw as well.
-
nice bow and welcome, :)
