I know in archives there is a glossary of bow building terms. Just thought it might be helpful if there was one for flintknapping too. I am just starting out and there are a lot of terms I don't understand. If yall wouldn't mind throwing up definitions and or short explanations of some terms I will combine them all into one post later (if we get a good turn out) this would greatly expand my own understanding as well as helping others in the future
Just an idea :)

There's a good glossary at this site:

I can give you a bunch of definitions if you want to create our own glossary here on PA... just give me a few days. ;D I may overlap what others will give you but that's the fun of putting togther something like this. ;)

Thanks for the website I will check it out.
Id still like to make one here even if its just to increase my own personal knowledge

"knappin the crap" - in spite of popular opinion this does not refer to the faceting of ceramic removed from a toilet bowl. This is a term coined to express pride in working with local rock to which other, more experienced knappers, might look down upon with much disdain.
;D ;D
Had to get that one in there. Now we can get on with more serious terms.

Ha,Ha,Ha! That's a good one, true but good.

I have no problem adding that in there

I might add that the derivation of said term comes from the burlington pulled from my quarry and is so full of cracks that any point made from it is of high quality. It evolved to encompass most of the rock tumble Scott an I find in these creeks lol.
