Title: Rock ID please?
Post by: Jimbob on June 15, 2012, 01:10:20 pm
This was found in the hills around Concord, CA.  Its pretty rough and grainy,  I tried to pick up a hammer stone to try and see how it works but it broke the hammer stone. I did get some flakes off of it though.

Whew! That looks like some tough stuff. Can't wait to see what you can do with it.

JimBob - You made it out to concord and didn't come visit me in Yosemite - I am verily crushed!  With the layering in that rock it lloks like a metamorphic, schist perhaps otherwise my thought initially was diorite, a very dark small crystal form of granite.
