Title: Heat Treating question

Has anyone ever heat treated a board bow?  I'm using hickory.

Yes. As long as the grain is good enough to handle the tension, it's the same as a stave. Of course, that's true of an untreated board too. You can heat treat, flip tips, bend for string alignment, whatever.

...but like any wood that is manipulated with heat of any kind, give it plenty of time to rehydrate before you stress it.
