Title: Looking to trade for an Osage Bow
Post by: Patrick Griffin on June 04, 2012, 05:35:18 pm
Hey guys, I'm looking to trade for a nice osage bow or get someone to make me one. I would like it to be dependable and durable since I plan to hunt with it, (not just for show). If possible I would like it modeled in style after ones southeastern Native Americans would have used.  Anyways Let me know if anyone is interested in making one and what you may want in trade or point me in the right direction as to who I need to contact. Thanks alot

Hey Pat.  ...I was just wondering about what indian style you are talking about. I am not really familiar with the original osage indians and their style of osage bow, or how they made it. I am not sure if it was sinew backed or not. I have heard that the cherokee later moved preference from black locust to osage? But I believe that that was recently in history.  ;D

I'm kinda referring to the choctaw style bow... But not necessarily exactly the same... Some adjustments can always be better. But their bows are pretty much the traditional D style bow as far as I know.
