Title: Prone to twist?
Post by: Arrowind on May 21, 2012, 11:17:18 pm
All tillering errors aside...I'm wondering if some types of wood are more prone to limb twist than others...

Any thoughts on this?

All woods are susceptable to twisting. None necessarily more than others. Unless it grew with a twist or wasn't stored properly it is usually the bowyers fault if a bopw twists.

Thanks Pat.

That's what I would have tought.  I seem to have more trouble with limb twist with hickory than any other wood so i was starting to wonder but the fact that I make more bows out of hickory than any other wood, so far, probably has something to do with it.   ;D

Guess I need to work on my tillering skills more.
