So this is my second bow. It's 66 NTN and pulls #55@28. I named it "Ugly Stick" while making it but it actually came together great. It's silk backed with bacote tips and bacote on the handle and wrapped with jute. Didn't think this one would make it but so far it's still going strong mainly thanks to tips and things I've found on here. It was shoot off the hand but I eventually cut an arrow shelf. Hope you like it and maybe even have some good tips. The tiller isn't great but it shoots well. Also lots of set but I'm getting a bit better. It usually goes back to about an inch of set after shooting. I had just put about 50 through it prior to taking the unbraced pic. It's a gift so I wanted to make sure it was all good. She's a beaut! Hope my first turns out looking that nice.

Love the look of the backing. Feels good to finish one doesn't it. I'm just putting the final coats on mine. Thanks for sharing!
-
Yeah it is nice to finish. This one gave me fits but I ended up liking it enough to gift it! The backing turned out good. Plastic bag in black paint.

Great looking bow Kevin!! Like Pappy said, nothing ugly about that stick. The backing looks great. I think I might try some silk myself.

Good job, Kevin. Looks like it will really fling one. Whoever gets that gift should really appreciate it!

She is definitely a beauty! The view from you're house ain't so shabby either ;) (what i would give to see that every morning!!!)
I will say this, if it's not too late, get that middle of the lower limb bending some, she's quite stiff there. In the full draw you can see the inner third doing most of the work. That's going to cause longevity issues. I know it's hard to go back and work on her after she's all pertied up.
Congrats on a beauty of a stick :)

Thanks everyone for all of your comments. I did have quite a hinge in the lower and my inexperience dealing with it caused the poor tiller. Also had the handle pop off because the bend was in to far so I was suprised it made it this far. Most likely due to the silk.
Yeah the view is awesome. Getting up the driveway in the winter sucks but it's worth it.

Wow! That turned out beautiful.

Great job! Love the finish work. I actually like a bow that has a an inch or two of set. There is more to a bow than the chrono readings and the stats. I bet it shoots sweet.

Awesome looking bow. You picked a great stain to go with redoak.

I use titebond 3 for everything. Have yet to find Urac and they won't ship it to Alaska since its flammable.
