-
WOW Gordon thats a collection to be proud of!!
Josh
-
AWESOME!!! You set the bar high man.
-
I remember some of those beauties, Gordon! I don't see the Hazelnut from your build a long with the dark handle and tips I like so much. Do you still have it?
-
That is an awesome collection! I have about eight hanging off a set of old antlers in the shop, but I ain't posting them up after that!!!! I don't want to give myself an inferiority complex this early in my bow building career. Beautiful bows brother.
-
Beautiful bows, extremely nice work, here are some of mine, but after them I hate to post ,don't many left of these, seem to always give them away. :) :) Wished I had a picture of the beautiful selfbows hung at the Classic, man there is some talent around here. :) :) :)
Pappy
-
Kenny, I don't own that hazelnut bow - I made it for someone else.
Pappy, there is nothing wrong with those bows, they are gorgeous!
-
Ain't got nothing to compare with Gordon or Pappy but....

I feel a bit like a first grader showing off his crayon art :)
Sorry for the bad picture but my rack is in a hallway of my man closet. I organized the left to right with my first build August 2011 to my most current 2pc osage on the right. Some of them are getting downright beat up. I shoot the sn@@t out of them. Don't have some of my favorites they reside in someone elses rack :)
Bendy Mulberry (new name Boomerang but refuses to break!!!)
Kentucky Coffee Tree
Chittam Woolly Buckthorn
Hackberry
Yew
ERC
Osage (50# 1pc)
Osage (40# 2pc)
The one leaning on the wall is a bow I bought to get an idea what a selfbow was like. It got me interested in trying to build one.

These are great. Keep them coming - it's great to see what is collecting in our bow racks.

a few osage bows
(http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab346/sadiejane9/bowmaking/DSCN0132.jpg)
-
Sadie what are the stays on that little paddle bow on the right? That looks sweet!
-
That's a nice lookin bunch, Pappy!
Lane, It's nice to see some good lookin bows with the shelf on the correct side, for a change.
Coaster, you're not sayin you've only been doin this since 8/11??
I like that one on the right, too, Sadie!
Count me with Howard. None of mine are worthy of showing, yet. The one I'm working on now....might be a different story. So far, so good!! ;)
-
Too many really, need a new bow rack.
-
Lot of nice Racks here :o
-
Coaster, you're not sayin you've only been doin this since 8/11??
Yup, taught him everything I know.................took about 17 minutes and two beers!
Very nice collection of mountain wood bows Nathan.
-
Heck, PD. At minimum wage, I could afford those lessons!! ;D
Nice bunch of bows, Nathan!!
-
Ive got a few. Not all finished though. Some have hung around for years and some have been in the working stage for a while. Around 17 to 20 all together. Enjoy. Sorry if the pics are poor quality. Camera isnt the best and didnt have time to get them outside.
-
Come on Drums it was three beers and 22 minutes and worth all three of um!!!
-
Its quite obvious Gordon is a closet bow porn addict and we are nothing but a bunch of enablers.............You know a guy has it bad when somebody like Gordon isnt satisfied with his own collection. These are some of my more recent faves, all are 48-53#'s @ 28" and vary from 57" ntn to 63" ntn. The gray one is a super sweet tempered hackberry plain jane that holds about 1 1/2" reflex.
-
Heck, PD. At minimum wage, I could afford those lessons!! ;D
Throw a Bulldogs hat in and you got a deal pal!
-
Nice batch of bows Drums!!!
Nathan what is that black bow forth pin from the bottom?
-
Its a hazel with wood dye ;)
-
Well PD, it takes one to know one ;D and that's about as sexy of a photo shoot as I've seen in a long time. Those bows of yours have me all hot and bothered :P
-
And those are all bows that Pearl Drums has made since lunch time! ;) Seriously though, really nice looking bows everyone.
-
all i can do is sit and drool, and wish i could amass a collection of my own work :o
-
I have no idea how many bows I've built, but I'd guess right now there are 3 that I've kept. 1 that's sentimental from a special hunt, 1 that's my favorite, and the third was my favorite until it got sluggish. I'm waiting for fall to decide if that's a design flaw or humidity affecting the sinew. All the rest were given, traded, or in one case, sold. The minute I'm not shooting a bow much it goes off to a new home. I have as many trade bows from other people as I do my own as they have special meaning. If I were to take a picture it would not be impressive. There are certainly more bows in process than are in my "collection".

Throw a Bulldogs hat in and you got a deal pal!
PD..I'm sure I have an extra around here somewhere. I might even spring for a new one!! That's sure a nice collection you got there!
MSpink - My batch looks more like yours. I get 75% through with one, realize I should have done something different, and instead of completing that one, I just start a new one. My son came home the other day and after looking around the shop, he said, "Have you ever finished one?" I guess I need to change my habits, some.
George, I've seen some of your finished work, though.
-
Some of my ..bows!
George
(http://i49.tinypic.com/5l402c.jpg)
-
I have exactly ONE of my finished bows in the house. It's the first one I ever made. There is a crack across the upper limb from letting an idiot overdraw it. I should just get over it and let it go, but it was my first bow and it was more than that, too.
On the other hand I have a couple really decent shooters from the likes of SA, ken75, youngbowyer, and local friends of mine. I am blessed.
-
(http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd464/jeffreyakolste/jbows20002-5.jpg)just a few that I shoot more than the others Black Cherry 35#,elm 60# osage 52# elm snakeskin50#-Hammertime

Robby
-
Wow Robby, I love the cabinet. Did you make it?
-
To heck with the cabinet, did you build those long guns yourself? Post a separate pic of those sexy babies! And a double gun, too? Is it a Pedersoli?
Charcoal-burning front-stuffers unite!
-
Myself, I like the bows, the cabinet, the long guns, the short guns, the arrows. Nice Robby!
-
Very nice Robby, love that whole thing, very cool dosplay. :)
Pappy
-
That's a nice bunch, BlackHawk. I remember you posting some of those thin-tipped babies!!
OKie...you got a nice batch of bows there, too!
Robby, that's quite a collection of.....stuff....including the bows!! ;D
-
Gordon, Yes, I made the cabinet, all the arrows, guns, and the house they reside in, oh yeah, the double is a Perersoli. ;D Looking back I wonder how the heck I had the time and energy!
JW, I'd be glad to post some of the guns I have made, but I'm not sure where that would go, and don't want to p1$$ anyone off!
Robby
-
Campfire Robby. Anything goes but explicit crap, religion and guvmint.
-
Beautifull bows, guys. Please post the guns, Robby. :) I only have two I've kept, the rest have been given away, traded, sold or donated to raffle drawings. I'll get some pictures when the rain quits.
-
Looking through old post and found this started by Gordon. Anytime I see something started by Gordon I look to see his great bows.
Thought I would add some from my overcrowded bow rack, these represent a little less than half of what I've made in the last 14 yrs.
Left to right; white oak, black locust, black walnut, hackberry, walnut, painted osage, hickory, elm, black locust, osage, hickory, black locust, black locust, elm, osage, walnut, hickory, walnut, rawhide backed & painted osage, osage, osage, walnut, painted osage, osage,
painted hickory & osage (my first bow).
Have more at various locations around the house and have gifted away the others. Some of these on the rack belong to my daughters and wife and a few are to be given away soon. Thanks for looking.
Greg
-
those are all sweet bows guys, need to see if i can find some pics of mine

Wow there are some absolutley beautiful bows on here,Ive got some of my own but dont have a clue how to post pictures on here, they dont compare to most Ive seen here tho.
-
Here are a few pics of my bows. Some were made by me and some by others.
These first 3 are ones that Rich(Half Eye) sent to me last year...

Ohhh Badly, you have been busy, nice bow collection. Would you ever sell them in the future or pass them down to friends/family........
-
You guys have so much consistency in the quality of your bows! Not sure if I have what it takes to show off around you guys. Thanks for sharing. I love seeing pics of all the bows together.
-
WOW bows a plenty. That's tons of talent showing up everywhere. Thanks for sharing.
-
Well I took a look and thought you guys might get a kick out of this. It's all the hickory bows I've made from a single tree I cut a few years ago and also the osage bows I've made at MOJam on the right.
-
ryoon4690,
Tell us about the 3rd in from the right. I assume you crafted it that way...
How does it shoot. I dont mean FPS but how is it in the hand.
Ive been thinking bout trying something like that, most likely hickory.
-
sharpend60, In this particular case I would have liked a little more depth in the handle but it's still quite comfortable. I think it feels very natural.
-
Good looking bunch of bows you guys are staying busy, I have given most of mine away but I need to gather up the ones that have been given to me and get a picture, they are scattered all over the shop and Cabin. :) :)Might even dust and straighten up a bit while I have them out. ;) ;D ;D
Pappy
-
That hickory tree did not die in vain ryoon, you made some really nice looking bows from it, great work.
Greg
-
Wow, just spotted this thread, some waaaay cool bow collection, but someone gotta tell that Coaster that some of his ain't bows, them's are fishin' rods ;)

All I have at the moment is an osage selfbow and a yew selfbow, all the others have found happy homes with friends, family and neighbors. :)
-
This page just makes me want to try harder. Don't know if the wife will like that. I've only made one bow so far (red oak) but I had fun and it shoots good. Maybe one day I can make some that is worthy to post.
-
Some of mine. Some old some new, (none borrowed or blue). Go to bow right now is the Hackberry in the middle. Lite, fast and sweet. Perfectly straight unbraced profile after many many arrows.
-
Here are my two racks of bows. Unfortunately, since I have only been at it for a little over a year, only some of these I made. The rest were gifted to me. I have given away as many as I have kept.

View of the backs...sort of.

My rack of pre-bowmaker bows. "a little more high-tech"...think my wife is right about me having too many? I guess that's what happens after 20 years of collecting. ::)

-
Pat just thought it would be kind of cool to see all the different personalities in one continuous stream.
One of the things I really enjoy about selfbows and PA is the individuality of each bowyer....
If folks post their rack pictures I'll post them in the show...

This is an intervention.... you have a bow hoarding problem. >:D
-
My rack is in a constant state of evolution O:)
I resemble that remark!
-
Got to be a few more racks here to add to the show ?????
-
As one who has made about a zillion bows this may come as a shock, I don't have many bows, they always drift off to new homes.
I have a couple I use, one my wife shoots and a sentimental bow or two like the one I made years ago for a brother-in-law who was dieing from MS.
-
I keep my personal favorite fits and pass the rest on as well Eric. I get asked all the time, "where are all your bows?".
-
Nothing wrong with that group Eric and some very nice leather work also!!!

Alright now I know there is no such thing as too many bows but come on fellas!!!!
INTERVENTION! In 3 easy steps!
Step 1: identify bows you no longer shoot as much
Step 2: separate said bows from the others
Step 3: get my address and send them here for proper therapy :)
CURED!!!!
-
PM your address Pinenut you never know what might show up >:D
-
if we were to all to do that then there would be no more bows to go around ::) i would totally give my address :P
-
PM your address Pinenut you never know what might show up >:D

I have nothing to compare with the quality of the other bows on here, but what the heck:
here's an ash "english warbow" I made from a board--about 72-73-ish pounds @ 31", it's 75.5 inches nock to nock.
-
Okay, 3 things are apparent here...1 I need to clean,2 I need better backgrounds for taking pictures,3 I need a better bow rack ;D

One of 4 racks, but to be honest only a third or so are really finished ... still something to do.

hey gordon, what happened to those short 56-60 inch vine maple, hazelnut, and serviceberry bendy handle sapling bows you made?
-
Here is last summers rack shot. I currently own two of those shown, the rest are outta here. I dont have any new rack shots. Soon....soon.
-
Okay here is my most current line up. The first is my "under the bench" rack, they need LOTS of work. The second is my "experimental" rack, some shoot and some dont yet. The third is my "almost done" rack, they are all bows now and need a tweak or seal up. And the last is my "Cold dead hands" rack......I think we all know what that means.... >:D

Good stuff :)

I did chase a ring on that bow I didnt chase a thick ring.
The reason it's violated is bc a check showed up so I just draw knifed it off. No big deal.

That's really cool coaster. I enjoyed rolling through those pics a couple of times. So many nice bows. I spotted a bow by Nathan Elliot that I would like to see up close. Its that dark colored bow in his group. It looks like it has a carved handle.

I'll try to get a picture of some of my bows. All my best ones belong to other people ;)

Good stuff, sleek.!

Thanks Steve. I am really thinking about soon challenging myself to make very odd bows. I enjoy making the standard issue flat, D, and recurve bow, but I am really wanting to see what else I can do, something crazy. Not sure yet, but I want to finish a bow, and have somebody say, my gosh, that is amazing. Like Picasso, and art deco, and such. Bows that are crazy looking, hard as hell to make, but functional. I have a few ideas already, but havent quite figured it all out.
