after seeing pearlie and patb and twistedlimbs recurves i got the itch to build one too, i had this white oak cut out for awhile so i went to town on it, 66" ntn pyramid profile haven't checked the#'s but it fill's like 50#, got it to about 27-28" in the pic, still got some work yet but wanted to see what ya think, Bub(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/kid%20bow/Picture003-24.jpg)

great looking bow. :)

Looks good Bub. With that kind of ntn length your working recurves should do the trick. There is a give and take point with static recurves and bow length where the speed gained is lost in limb mass. Cant wait to see this one dusted off!
-
Looks good to me Bub... And no set!

Sweetr curves Bub.

That is a sweet bow. Probably a stupid question but did you make that from a white oak stave? Or a board? Is it possible to reflex the tips on a red oak board bow?

I remember that one, It was very very nice... I believe he told me that he got the thickness of the oak down to a little over a half an inch then steamed each tip for a half hour before bending.

Very nice bend Bubby.... maybe some white oak is in order??? Not like we don't have enough around here ;)
-
bubby in my opinion your bows are as nice as anyone's and this may be my favorite.
Oh, and I shoot lefthanded....

yeah jon, most of my pyramids start 1/2" thick limbs

The oak is definitely somthing off the beautiful bow list when put in your hands. ;)
-
Good job, Bub. I'm definitely tackling curves pretty soon, for sure.
OH yeah... I'm in that exclusive LH club with you, Lane, and few others.

That full draw looks great. Hows it shootin' ? ' Frank

Nice bow man. Inspiring.
-
thank's for all the kind words, i havn't shot it past 15 yds yet but it's been makeing a real tight grouping, first four arrows were in a three inch group, Bub

Beautiful bow. I am working on a white oak bow right now. I read somewhere that they can be prone to a lot of string follow, but I see that yours has none. Did you do any tempering? I hope mine turns out half that good. Great work.
-
Nice bow, well done, I've got a lot of oak by me , been wating to try out a recurve, did it take much set after shooting in?
Dave

it has taken about a half an inch of set after 100 arrows, it has a little string follow that goes away in under an hour, Bub
-
Nice bow man (:
I read it only took like half an inch of set, wich to me is great. I've made 2 longbows from white oak and both had
some serious string follow. was your oak particularly dense? how wide did you make it?
cheers
