Title: anyone try madrone?

figured i have a ton of madrone growing where i live and would give it a try. the first stave i worked on erupted (much more than just cracked) while floor tillering it and now i'm not sure i even want to try again. to make things worse, when it broke it tagged my funnybone! anyone have good results from this wood?
