Title: is this a good combo?
Post by: Lee Lobbestael on March 30, 2012, 08:51:53 pm
Home depot has maple flat stock that I was thinking about backing with hickory. I asked what kind of maple it is but nobody there seemed to know. You guys think this combo would work?

The only maple ive been able to find at HD is soft maple. You can sink your thumbnail in pretty deep. I wouldnt back soft maple with hickory would try rawhide or linen and only try for 25 to 30 pounds.

If you have access to hickory you don't really need the maple, in my opinion. Just make a hickory bow.  ;D
