Welcome, Danny! Glad you have joined the addiction uh I mean fun!

Even a failed bow can be used to beat on things, so think of it as a well tillered club.
Welcome to the madness. We are a breed apart, that is for sure

As you are in the UK like me, you might find my website and bowyers diary particularly interesting.
Google 'delsbows' or 'bowyers diary' to find them.

You will have very little problem taking what you learned shooting cattys and transferring it to shooting bows.

Hi CalendarGirl, Quite a few of us from the UK went to it last year, and it was great fun. It is run under the auspices and insurance of the SPTA, and well, Wally does pretty much all of the rest. He is on PA and I would expect him to pipe up sooner or later. There is a bit of everything going on over the weekend - making, trading, shooting (bows, crossbows, atl-atls, slingshots, axe-throwing) etc etc. For those new to PA and in the UK, the event in in Lyne in Surrey, down in the south-east, and runs all weekend mid-May. Full details are in the flyer.
You can see a blog entry from Sam Moss about last year's event:

Thanks! I need to list it on the calendar. I was working on my events page for the magazine yesterday and ran across that one. I would love to get more international events like that sent to me to list.

I also like a bit of catty action - i've just made one from ipe, rosewood, osage and buffalo horn. What an absolute pain to sand... :)
