i made a sassafras bow a while back it was light and shot really well i was very surprized i backed it with linin after 60 shots or so it busted i was going to try rawhide this time do you think the rawhide will hold it together ive made a number of bows so tillering not the problem but sasafrass in my mind makes a right good bow very light wood and works easy real easy like its waxed thanks for any info

I had the same problem with 2 sassafras bows. They were both board bows, but had one break during tillering, and one break after some shootin. I haven't tried it since, but have been itching to. The wood store has some quarter sawn that I have been wanting to try, but I'm still a little gun shy.

I would like a little more info about the one that broke.
Length (ntn), drawlength.
Can you tell if it broke in commpression or in tension?
