Title: High Crown Hickory backing

I backed some osage slats with some hickory.  I was thinking instead of keeping full depth, to just make it high crowned in the middle of the hickory.  Good or bad idea?

The backing has some slight runoff on one end.  And figured the high crown would keep it from lifting a splinter.

I dont see why it would hurt a thing. Hickory is meaner than a sacked cat in tension.

why not just trap the back? it would probably be easier and its just doing the same thing as your suggesting ;)

I think I will trap it some.  That way it might keep the tension in the middle (maybe a bad thing).
