Title: Stanley # 80 question
Post by: Prarie Bowyer on March 25, 2012, 01:05:40 pm
Anyone have an old Stanley # 80?

I want to know the bed/blade angle.  NOT the bevel on the blade it's self but the angle of the blead in the unit.  I'm rebuilding my scraper to make it better.  I could just measure my card scraper angle I guess.

Scraper shaves often have an angle of 0 degrees. The scraping plane Lee Valley sells has an adjustable blade angle of 0 to 25 degrees forward of vertical. From photos it looks like the stanley 80 has an angle close to 20 or so degrees. I guess anything vertical or a bit forward will work.
