I went to the gun show in Birmingham last weekend and bought a bow, LOL. Saw it sitting there in a pile of other old bows mostly Bears but this was the only left handed one he had. Got it for a VERY good deal now that I've done some reasearch online... I think it is pretty but it is waay to heavy for me to shoot all the time. What do ya think? thanks for looking! :) P.S. Don't flame me too bad for buying a bow built with the "F" word... ;)

If it pulls 70#, too steep at any price for me. :o
Looks like a nice find though. I have seen stuff like that on the auction site go pretty high. Congrats.
-
yeah I can shoot it once or twice then I have to rest, lol. ;D
-
I've got it's twin, except it is 54 lbs. and right handed. I am a longbow guy now, but;..... I killed my last bow killed deer with it. I got two Howatt's and they shoot so well and effortlessly for me,I have not been able to part with them and shoot them quite often. I guess I should feel shame, but I don't ! ' Frank

I feel, the Hunter is the best recurve they make.It is not uncommon for the Howatt/Martin bows,to be a bit heavier than marked.
-
I shot it's twin, 45#s though, Made by Martin/Damon-Howatt. Right handed. Always liked it, but since geting a real selfbow in the christmas Exchange, I've shot nothing but that since January. I'll always have mine, it belonged to my Brother who passed.
Nice find. dpgratz
gun show and you bought a bow ;D ;D ;D didja get some funny looks?
-
thanks guys!
dont feel shame Sparrow at least it was a recurve and not a compound. :)
...it does feel a little heavier than 70 lbs... at least that's what I have been telling my ego, LOL.
Got a bunch of funny looks walking around the gun show with a bow... but heck I get funny looks everywhere I go so i dont let it bother me much anymore ;D :)

I say we burn the heretic on a pile of his own broken wood arrow shafts and osage shavings!! Maybe a few well placed pacific yew splinters under his nails will extract the confession! But first we stretch him on the spine tester, yes, the spine tester for him.
Besides, he turned me into a newt!
-
Well, I got better!
Ok, enough Joshing. At least you didn't succumb to the succubis bows with wheels. You gonna make some meat with this one?
-
Scott, I have never heard of anyone turning a compound into a recurve that is freakin awesome! I wanna see a pic or two of that!
...JW... first off LOL. :D
I plan to hunt with it as soon as I get my first bow kill with a bow I made then I will branch out to other bows. :)
-
Well, I got better!
I don't know about that, Looked in the mirror lately, still kind of 'newtish' if you ask me. >:D
-
I have a Howatt Hunter that is 55. I shot one that was 65 for about 20 years. Dandy bows. Large riser makes them nice shooters.
-
Looks like the #70 I traded for a Bear.I couldn't string it without a stringer.
-
OK I have read enough of this.....back to the sweat lodge to purifier. JW we could rack him on the tillering tre, pine pitch and turkey feather him.
-
Ya' know sometime's you think you a guy and the !!WHAM!! they buy a glass bow and its supposed to be "okay"and we just move along. I dont like it, I dont like it all...................trade it for some staves or some river cane or something......I think there may be a five second rule for bows as well?
-
At least the dog's cute.

PM me if you want to purify your soul. I think I can help. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
