Title: all was going so well
Post by: vabowyer on March 08, 2012, 10:43:03 pm
was trying to use up scraps I had laying around the garage.  Made this great little bow.  Probably the most comfortable thing I have ever launched an arrow from.  Shot way faster than I expected.  a think of beauty.......then the string slipped from the nock somehow and the thing broke.  The ash backing held, but the pau amarillo belly split right through.......

Thanks for the kind words.  I glued the thing back together just to keep it for a model.  It shot so well before it went, Might try to make another like it.  I will put some deeper string grooves in though.  I think this pau amarillo is my favorite tropical wood to work with.  Love the way it works.  I do not think I have used a wood that responds better to a plane or spokeshave.
