I wanted a smaller draw knife for fine/detail work and this is what DRon Knife made for me. Lookin' forward to using this on some ERC.
-
Forgot to add, it's a 6 incher
-
That thing looks awesome! Always wanted a small draw knife for the "in between rasp, and cabinet scraper" stage.

NICE!!!!!..... I bought a small one recently from North Bay Forge ... a micro drawknife... works slick taking down a ring
-
I love my micro knives. I have several with 4" blades. They are so easy on the hands taking down that final ring.
Be careful though. I broke one of mine trying to take off more than I should at one time.

Del- I will get pics of the other side tonight and post em' for ya when I get home from work tonight
Bevan- thanks for the tip. I plan on using this one for cleaning up the backs of staves after I take off the majority of wood with a bigger draw knife, I also thought a smaller one would be handy for working knots and imperfections in the stave
Nativenoo- it's not bounty:)

WoW!! That's a dandy...lol ;)
I only wish I could have gotten a straighter hardened to tempered line on it,but its only an aesthetic issue! Glad your happy Creek!
-
Straighter line or not, this is one sweet draw knife. It will take it's maiden voyage by trying to chase a ring on ERC because the top ring is damaged.
-
That will certainly be the test Creek,Erc has very tricky rings at times!
@ all others interested in a ring chaser, send me a PM and I will slate you for a DRon special, please note, its not that they take along time to make(about 2 days),its that its hard to acquire the steel. I am currently looking for a supplier(local)of some 1095. Creek and I thank you for the compliments..lol,Ron
-
DRon-have ya thought about using recycled steel-old files, lawnmower blades, leaf springs etc
theres bunches of good old steel laying about just waiting for someone like you to turn em into a sweet blade
-
Yes Sadie,I've made all of my knives from files, but I'm tired of looking for steel so I bought some 1095 from a steel supplier,no more guessing and no more searching just making ;)
-
That's a very nice knife for sure! Thanks for posing it.

Theat's a pretty little knife. Is the edge forged? I agree that it's nice to know what you have. The carbon variation in W1/W2 file steel can make tempering pretty touch and go. I had a blade from a Nicholson file that was air hardening on me and after quenching had to be heated to blue before the temper was drawn down enough to finish the edge. The cheap Indian files. on the other hand, temper just like 1095. I've seen a lot of online sources for steel, but I assume you are trying to avoid the shipping costs.
