I ordered a board from here... With shipping, it was a little expensive, but we have no places around here that carry it. Then I followed the steps from here
http://poorfolkbows.com/ipe3.htm (http://poorfolkbows.com/ipe3.htm) except I got a 7' board and cut it 6' long and divided it up for enough for 8 bows and left the other foot for riser and tip material. It wound up being about $6 per bow that way. If you have a local source, it could be way cheaper.

I have a local lumber yard that I go and hand select the ipe for myself.  I usually pick out fully quarter sawn boards.

Ipe is used for decking and flooring all over this country. Check your local lumber companies, wood floor installers or decking specialists.

I found some from an online source after all.  I was checking periodicaly and only finding places that want a minimum order of a whole decks worth.

The few places here that "carry it" special order it and it's $100 a board.  NOT kidding.  I found a deck builder but again he only orders when he sells it and measures VERRY carefuly to avoid waste.
