What ever happened to the point swap? That's kinda how I got my feet wet with this place & I haven't seen it in a long time. I'm interested. Tower
-
I am not ready to take part, but I loved seeing what you guys swapped!!
-
Bevan its not like that! Its not about swapping points between seasoned knappers. Its about knappers of all levels swapping their points. No judging . That's how I see it.
-
I appreciate the thought Tower but in the bow trade, we requred participants to be able to make a shootable bow. I feel to be in a trade like this, you have to make something more than gravel :P
Count on me for next year though. All I plan on doing at the SW Iowa bash and crash is learn rock shapping. 8)
-
My points are still rough, but I'm in for sure if there's another swap. :) I love swapping points, try to always have one in my pocket if I'm gonna meet somebody from the forum.

Talk about carrying around points . Here is a pic of the dash of my truck. People everywhere find knapping interisting.

Id be down for a point trade!! Don, I hope you never get in a wreck (KNOCK ON WOOD), the thought of those things flying around in the cab of a truck scares the crap out of me.
-
Bevan, Don is right. It's not about the point, but a chance to get one , better or worse than the one you traded. It gives you something to compare your points to. Even thick points you can learn from just by looking at the platforms that weren't set up properly. And when you get real good and famous someone has one of your first ones that is worth millions on Ebay.
And that informal rule on the Bow Trade was for a different reason. I'll tell you in a PM but not here.
Tower, I'm in. ;)

Count me in ! ' Frank
-
Yeah Lee, I need to clean it off. Everytime I hit the breaks hard it sounds like something breake. At least the wreaker man has something to look for.
-
The Count me in. Bevan the people that have been knapping for awhile want the new guy to get a nice point so they can learn from it. We all remember what it was like starting off. Having a well made point is like having a reference book. It is fun to have a point from a new guy and then get one 2 years later and compare them.
-
Sounds like fun. Haven't done any swapping around here in awhile. Lets do it.
-
Put me down for two,I've new material I am working and it's swapable ' Frank

When is the 'END' date? Who is running this? I will give it a go, do my best anyway.

OK, so it's a go.
From looking at the previous swaps, here's the basic premise:
1. Post in this thread with how many points you want to trade by midnight on January 15, 2011. I'll post a compiled list periodically.
2. On Jan. 16th, I'll print each name once for the number of points they signed up for and put the papers in a hat. I'll then have my kids pull the names and make a list in the order the names are pulled (except I won't have you send a point to yourself).
3. I'll post the ordered list on Jan 16th. You will send a point to the name(s) below your name in the list. It is your responsibility to contact your recipient for their address.
4. Mail your point(s) to your recipient(s) by February 1, 2011.
Here's the list I have so far:
Sailordad - 3
Rileyconcrete - 1
Jamie - 1
Jonathan Creason - 1
jthompson1995 - 2
nugget - 2
Sparrow - 2
Bryan Irwin - 2
Please let me know if you have any questions or Igot something wrong in the information above. Thanks.
Anyone have the time to run the swap?
-
I'm in, but probably will need to send two just to make up for the one I might get. :o I'll keep my eye out for the post when someone steps up as umpire. dpgratz
-
I will get in for a couple.
-
so if you sign up for say, 5 point's you send to 5 seperate people or did i read that wrong? Bub
-
Anyone have the time to run the swap?
Sure, I'll run it, if doing the same as last time is OK. I think I'll start a new thread tonight and copy the data over from this one. Need to clean up my PMs first. Stay tuned.

Yes bubby, that's exactly what it means.
The new thread is up, http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,31289.msg (http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,31289.msg)
Please post over there if you want to joint in the trade. Those of you that didn't give a number of points, please add a post over there and let me know, and of course 1 is an acceptable number. You will get back the number you put in. Maybe I'll up my number??
