Title: Howard Hill's tillering tree
Post by: Steve Milbocker on March 02, 2012, 01:55:12 am
A little over 2 minutes into this  film there is a short segment showing Howard tillering a bow. Pretty fancy setup! Not really about selfbows but I found it an enjoyable old clip just the same.

What a way to exercise limbs!!. Bet I could make one of those with an adjustable arm for diferent draw lengths.. LOL

I have seen that clip before and the tillering "machine" has haunted me.  I think a change in the length of the string from the wheel to the bow string would easily accomodate a different draw length.

I on the other hand have invented and use boots just like Art Young's that suck you down into the muck and mud.  It is handy for keeping from moving too fast.

I've found it quite easy to leave said boots at the bottom of the mud hole making it painful after reaching the rocks on the other side. :-[

Real brave of that guy standing there holding that sword to split the arrow! Was that Ira Hayes? Check out the complete pass through on that big goat towards the end.
