Title: Arizona chert

Howdy all. Can anyone tell me a good location to find knapping materials (chert/obsidian/etc) in Arizona. Any help would be appreciated.

I've heard there are some jaspers & agates there but I'm not sure where there at.

Check the washes around Winslow for Jasper .  North West of flagstaff , there is supposed to be some obsidian deposits.  Haven't seen them myself.  Or if you are down by quartzsite, there are vendors there that will have a bout anything you can imagine   .   Josh

I was just at Casa Grande Ruins in Coolidge,AZ. They have a map in their visitor center that shows Obsidian locations throughout AZ.  They may be able to provide you with more information. Good luck in your search.

Here's a small piece off a slab I found outside Winslow. That stuff is tough!  Good rifle flints though.  Josh
