Hey guys, Here is another H.T. hickory bow I just finnished up. Its 64" NTN, 1 3/4" at the fades with a strait taper to 7/16" nocks. 1/4" positive tiller. The bottom limb is 1 1/2" shorter than the top limb, first time trying that.
It came in at 45# @ 28", A little under my target poundage but this bow shoots very well, no stack and quiet. The growth rings were a little tight on the back so I sanded it smooth and burnished it well.
The coloration is brown rit dye over grey. 7 coats of tru oil with ipe tip overlays. Now its about time to start on my trade bow ( which has been drying in my hot box). Thanks for looking.

Nice work, love the way that wood shows it's true beauty. Like the lacing on the handle, wish i knew how to do that!
You done good sir ;D
-
nice bow! how did you get the lines on the handle? was it from wetting the leather and wrapping it with string while it dryed into shape?
-
really nice bow, Bub

yes, thats what I did, except i used a heat gun to help the drying process along.
-
cool, I never used string. only used ace bandage or shrink wrap. Good idea, will have to try!
-
absolutely beautiful.

Cody, Your bows are quickly becoming some of my favorites to look at. Another top notch work of art and great weapon. Being a master bowyer at such a young age I can only wonder what your bows will be in twenty years. Well done.

Very nice Hickory recurve! 8)

holly crap!!!!!! I love it JeffW

I don't normally care for a cut-in shelf, but I have to say that your execution is quite creative and easy on the eyes.
-
nice work brother.love that handle wrap.
-
man thats a pretty bow and what a great tiller.
-
That sure is a dandy!
-
Geeze man! How long have you been making bows? I like that even more than your last BOM winner. Love the brace and full draw profiles - she's a beauty all around.
-
Job well done, another stunner ;)

That stick is amazing... how much better could a grip work out?
Great work!!!

Very nice looking bow. Looks like another BOM candidate for sure.
-
I got a couple hundred bows under my belt and I still ain't got the guts to do a cut in shelf!!!
Nice work, that full draw pic shows some great talent at tillering. I can only imagine what kind of bows you are gonna be turning out in about a decade!
-
That's gotta be the prettiest hickory bow I have ever seen, great job!!!!
-
GOT TO LOVE HICKORY
-
Thats an awesome looking bow.....bet she shoots sweet too!
-
Ooooo now ain't she pretty! My kinda draw weight and length too...
-
Beautifull bow all around. I would be interested to know how those working recurves hold up over time, I have never had good luck with working curves like that in hickory.
-
That is one of the best looking Hickory bows I have seen. I would be interested to see how the working recurves hold up for you on Hickory. I was wondering did you heat temper this bow before you tillered it out or did you heat temper it after tillering. I really like Hickory but seem to get to much set for my likeing. May try heat tempering on the next one. Dean

I floor tillered the bow and then heat treated it. It took abou 1" of set. The trick to building hickory bows is to get the wood very dry (7-6% MC). I heat temper all my hickory bows now and would recomend doing the same, makes em snappy!

She's a beaut!

Cody; I was impressed the first time I met you and am more so now. That is one, very beautifull bow, right down to the curves and finish. I love it and I hate working hickory. Your attention to detail is excellent and I hope to see you at the Classic again this year.
-
AWESOME! That handle is pretty cool-Hammertime

Nice.... :)

Super job on that Hickory!

Very cool!

-
Very nice work!!
-
thats a looker for sure, good job.
-
That's a design I favor. I built an Ash bow to almost those same specs and profile, however I think your handle is more appealing than mine was. Nothing new to add to what others have said. Very fine work.

Nice tip work, excellent tillering best of the lot. I prefer straight limb bows myself but recognize quality. You have good skills, and did a great job on this bow. Bob

Congrats on another BOM winner Cody, you're on a role! How many more can you win this year? ;)
-
Absolutely beautiful!

Good bow, great pics!

Yup, like the others say, excellent work.
I particularly like the curvy grip, it's details like that stitching which make it all of a piece.
Very nice.
