Just wanted to share some pics of this Osage bow finished up with some stained sinew wraps. I though the tiller and sinew on this one was really cool and wanted to share it. It's 66" long and 47# @ 28" Brazilian Walnut tip overlays and chocolate deer leather grip. the stained sinew not only looks good but covers up some blemishes in the wood that I didnt like. But it turned out to be a real nice one i thought! Has a little bit of natural Gullwing shape which I am not a huge fan of, but didnt feel the need to steam it out..lol

Interesting...how long ago did you make this one. Its pretty green whereever you are. I don't think montanas that green this time o year ;)....are you in florida right now?
-
thanks guys- yeah back in FL right now....unfortunately looking like we will be moving back here. Better work for my wife and better education for my boy..... just crappy hunting for Papa..lol sacrifices for the family....
-
I understand that man... I lived in colorado for 4 years,n would move back in a heartbeat if I had the secure job I have here in pa,and take care of the fam...family first ;)...at least the hunting n availabilty of wood is decent up here.
Again cool bow man. :)
-
I really like that bow. You did a great job on it
-
Very neat bow Ryan. Great looking tiller and the wraps are very unique. Congratulations.
-
Cool bow with great tiller, Ryan. That must have taken you for ever to wrap all that sinew. It seems to take me forever just to wrap a 4" handle with hemp cord. ::)
-
I really really like all of your bows and this one is very nice also, especially the sinew wraps.
-
Very cool man! Well done :)
-
Very nice! :thumbup
-
That's a nice bow, Twisty. If it bothers you to look at the slight gullwing, I'll take it off your hands. But I imagine there would be a heck of a fight with everyone else that wants this one! For now the stained sinew wrap contrasts with the yaller wood, but later they will complement each other nicely. Either way, class act all the way.
Thanks for posting it for us to drool over.

Those wraps look sweet, so does the bow!
-
thanks guys. yeah i thought it was pretty neat. the more i see it the more i like it, but at the same time i like to see the grain around the grip area... soooo..... yeeaaa
-
Great lookin bow!! Wraps look really cool too. Im with you on the grain around the grip, thats my favorite part to look at on a selfbow, especially the waterfalls going down the fades. :)
-
A lotta personality in that one! Good job with the wraps. I think it adds pizzazz!!
-
Sweet tiller on that crooked stick. I like the wraps as well, goes with the grip and tips. If you move to FL do you have to sell the cabin?
-
nah dont have to sell the cabin, I just wont get it finished. Gonna hang on to it for a while, then i have a friend who wants to buy me out... dont know if he will finish the cabin or not
-
Awesome! Are those wraps real or artificial Sinew? They look Awesome!

Another great osage bow. Love the wrap. I hope that was artificial sinew, can't imagine the work to splice all the real sinew threads over that large an area.

100% all real back sinew. soak and wrap and glue..lol took a little while, but wasnt too bad, takes me way longer to
back one
-
Sweet lookin' bow, great job
-
Another nice one. That sinew really looks good. God Bless
-
great bow Ryan.is your cabin up for sale?i was looking forward o seeing all the progress on it.anyway, great bow as allways brother.thanks for the look,Steve
-
thanks- no the cabin isnt up for sale, just sitting idle right now. its a good hunting camp as of now, but would still need a little work if it was to last. my friend is going to buy me out in a couple years, he wants the neighbors property as well so im just kinda patiently waiting for somthing to happen with it.... not really in the a great place in MT. if it was in prime location I would probably never let it go. It only has Mule deer..which is nice but with no whitetails, bear or elk using it as a home range (some bear and elk pass through but nothings stable) then I wont hang on to it just to hunt. I can go to Lewistown where my family is an hunt wt, md, elk and bear all in one place. soon as i get out from under though i will invest in something else.

That is sharp! ! 8)

Very nice twister!!!

Quite an old post, I know, but I'm hoping you still receive replies to old posts... What did you stain the sinew with? And did you stain before or after wrapping and gluing?
THANKS!
-
Great looking bow Ryan. simple and classy. Love the color of the stained sinew and the yellow of the osage together. It make those tips pop.
-
Very nice bow! What stain did you use? Congratulations - looks like lots of us would adopt it (SH).

I remember this sweet twisted sister. I want to see a photo contrasting how the aged and darkened osage looks against the stained sinew now.
-
Cool looking bow. You do some good work.
