I was wondering how everyone stores there bow staves before you start carving on them. ??? This hot weather that we have been having got me to thinking if where I store my staves at would be good for them. I store them in a small wooden utility building and it has been getting pretty hot in there even though I have a couple of windows open. Do you think the excess heat will damage the wood even though the humidity is not that low?

Your shed should be fine. Good air circulation helps reduce moisture to a good ambient amount. You can reduce it to where it needs to be as you build your bow. I keep mine in my basement shop propped up against the block wall. Pat

I keep mine in an open end barn, just so you keep it out of the weather they should be fine. :)

In the attic! Its way too cool up here in the Pacific Northwest. Helps to keep it up there since it gets a bit warmer in there.

Pappy and Greg keep mine in the barn at Twin Oaks. Some of you who went to the classic might have seen my stash. ;D Justin

Bought a freestanding set of heavy duty plastic shelves, the kind with grid shelves. By loading them from narrow end, I keep the splits and staves on the bottom shelf, the 'bows in progress" and darn-near finished ones on the top shelf. Depending on the mood, I can easily pull the project stave or 'bow in progress' out commence making shavings.
