Title: Turkey Tails
Post by: RickB on February 12, 2012, 12:37:50 pm
Saw the thread with the nice turkey foot knife. Figured I'd try to make a turkey tail point similar to a small authentic point that I have. Rick B

First two Savannah River Chert - Point on right Flint Ridge.

Authentic point - black chert.

Large piece of Savannah River Chert that the top left two came from. This has been hard to work as it has many fractures, vugs, crystals and other inclusions. The pieces above are not heat treated, but you can see by this red point on the rock what some of it looks like when I overheated it.

Man that's purdy rock. Fine points to boot. I always love seeing an authentic point. Knap-On!

Now there's some cool looking points! Think i'd overcook all that rock - sure makes it purty..
