Hi all,
Title says it all. This is yet another cherry bow and once again its lovely wood to work, well besides my reaction to the stuff but thats what a mask if for!
Its 58.5 ntn, nearer 50lbs than 45 (scales are pants) @ 28. Silk backed for 3/4 limb and antler overlays. Heat treated light recurves and a little belly temper whilst flat. Takes about 3/4 inch of set, slightly more in the top limb which was naturaly deflexed to start. Veg-tan leather grip.
I only have an FD from the tiller board but will take another when i can get somone to hold the cam for me.
This like all my bows is hand tools only from tree to finished bow, two reasons, i dont have any power tools and the noise and dust just dont agree with me :)

That is a clasic looking beauty. very nice finish work. love the grip and the ttips seem to blend right in to the natural cherry.

Thanks a lot for all the nice comments they are appreciated and it is going to be hard to let this one go :(
The brown backing is just silk which is dyed that colour. Shocking price silk these days and never seem to find it in the charity shops any more either but it is worth the money.
The grip was a nightmare, first off i miscounted the stitch holes on each side so hard to start again, sooo i made another and ripped it at the very last stitch!!! So started again all went well until i realised i had put the handle on back to front! Anways i think I can blame that on the very little sleep our 16 month boy gives us :)
Oh and the string used to stitch was a kind of synthetic something from my local materials place.. tough as nails.

Sorry about the lack of FD but I do have this where its out to 27. I only really relaxed the very outer 1/3 of the limb after that. It is left a little thicker at the handle where it narrows a bit to make it more comfy and the lower limb is left and is a little shorter.
Thanks again for the nice comments.

The bow looks great. I bet it is a good performer too.Have to happen to weigh it? The cherry I've got is very light. Great work. God Bless
-
Beautiful bow! Your tiller job makes me envious :-[
-
Thanks again for the nice comments.

Very nice contrast and the tiller is spot on. Cherrry huh? who'd a thunk it. I heard it was weak in tension so I guess the silk has done the trick om taming splinters. Great work. Danny

Apologies, missed this. I just checked my bench and i had scribbled the weight there to keep an eye out after heat treating. It was 15-16 0z before all the furniture.

good jod buddy, very nice bow.love everything about it,Steve
-
beautiful work , and an excellent full draw , what type of cherry is this ?
-
Thanks ken. It is prunus avuim, an edible cherry we have in the UK. Introduced species but being edible the birds also love it so it "gets around" pretty quick. Real nice with Icecream too :)
-
Gorgeous lookin' bow, love the grip!
-
That is a super sweet looking bow. I like the grip a lot and the silk looks very neat. The tiller speaks for itself.....looks like a fast bow.

Beautiful bow. Let me know if you need more silk I live in Thailand and could get some in about any color you want one to 3 ply. I've backed two bows with the three ply to date.
-
WoW. Great looking work. I can just tell that it would look some much better still in hand.
Well done on some very fine art work my friend.

Thanks again all.
The sting is just my ugle dacron stillering string. Things have been a bit mad lately so these were just some quick pics so the poor new very patient owner could get his hands on it.
